Early morning walk before work this morning to the wreck of the large steam trawler and former mine sweeper “Pasages” which was grounded on Jurby beach 92 years ago.

The ship ran aground on the 3rd December 1931. All 13 crew made it to safety when the ship’s cook bravely swam through the raging sea with a rope, with which the remaining 12 crew members made it to safety.

Crew training is essential onboard a vessel in order to mitigate risk.
